The Court of Appeal has overturned a ruling to award £54,000 damages to injured rugby player Jack Sutton. I have been particularly interested in this story as he brought the claim against my home village team of Syston Rugby Club, Leicestershire. We blogged upon this case on 10 October.

Whilst I was quite surprised to hear on the Radio this morning, and read on the BBC News site that the NHS has spent more than £30million on taxis for patients since 2008, the fact that this expenditure relates to a lack of NHS patient transfer provision, sadly does not surprise me at all.

In the recent case of Burton v Evitt (2011) it was held that a driver was one third to blame when he turned right into a car park from a queue of traffic and collided with a motorcyclist who was overtaking the queue of traffic on the off side.

It was difficult to know what I felt when I heard the discussion on Radio 4 this morning about how IT reminders could help save many lives. The report says that better use of information technology in England's hospitals could help prevent 16,000 deaths a year.
