A Fatal Injury Caused by a Horse: Safety Around Horses Cannot be Guaranteed!

I have blogged previously about accidents involving horses and traps or carriages. This article therefore caught my eye, which involves a horse which had been pulling a wagon when it bolted at a show and caused a fatal injury.
The horse was subsequently advertised for sale as 100% safe.
I understand that the seller claimed that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) had declared the horse safe.
I know from my work with personal injury claims that the HSE would not make
such a declaration, but clearly potential buyers could be tempted by that
statement.
I do not believe that any horse or pony can be 100% safe.
Even the best natured animal can become spooked and act out of its normal
character. That is why nobody can guarantee safety around horses; only take the
best possible precautions.
