Criminals to be Blocked from Claiming Compensation

Grant Evatt Justice Secretary Ken Clarke has announced proposals to restrict the rights of those with a criminal history from claiming an award of compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

As always, the devil is in the detail but mostly this is an excuse for bringing the annual cost of the scheme down.  The reforms, due to be announced in the House of Commons today at 3.30pm, include plans to restrict claims for minor injuries.

For now, I have one observation to make.  Reduce crime and you reduce claims.
