Homes for Heroes

Grant Evatt Amongst the headlines of doom and gloom I have today learnt of an exciting development in the support of our wounded troops.

A house is being built next to Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital to accommodate families of military personnel who have been injured on operations.  I understand that they are to be given a free room in the house so they can visit their relative whilst they are being treated in the hospital.

This concept has been adopted from the US where the Fisher House Foundation has been housing its wounded and their families for a number of years.  Funding for the house has been shared between the US and UK in the form of charities like Help for Heroes and Fisher House. The estimated cost is £4.2m and the Birmingham house is scheduled to open in April next year.
