Work is continuing on the remainder of the site, which we are told should be ready for full opening in mid-December. The press release from SHIP PCT Cluster, covering Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, lists an impressive range of facilities and services that should be available from the site when it is completed. Children from Havant and East Hampshire should very shortly be able to access paediatric consultants, specialist nurses, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, podiatry, school nurses, health visitors and child and adolescent mental health services at the centre.

At a time when public spending and the NHS in particular seems to be under so much financial pressure, it is good to see that the benefits of having a community based centre providing access to such a broad range of specialisms, has been recognised. I hope that the opening goes well and that the centre is appreciated by the patients it serves and enjoys great success in the future.
