Successful Compensation Claim Following Burns Resulting from Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Blake Lapthorn successfully pursued a claim on behalf of Ms R following burns which resulted from laser hair removal treatment.

Ms R purchased a course of 6 treatments. At the third treatment it was noted that she had been burned at the last session under her left arm. On the fifth treatment session Ms R sustained significant burns to her underarms and side of her body. Ms R recalled felling acute pain a few minutes after the treatment. She was able to see redness in the area of pain which gradually became darker and raised over the next couple of days.

Ms R tried contacting the clinic the following day but was unable to speak to anyone. Two days later she managed to speak to someone who advised that the symptoms she had were simply a normal reaction to the treatment in question. Ms R was told to apply Sudocream and to return to the clinic the following week if she was still having problems. Ms R was still in discomfort later that day so went to see her GP.

Later that week Ms R attended the clinic to show them the burns. She was advised that these would fade over time and to avoid exposure to sunlight in the meantime. The burns remained painful for a few weeks and it has been advised that they will fade completely within a couple of years. In the meantime Ms R remains self conscious about them.

Blake Lapthorn successfully obtained £3,500 for Ms R in respect of her injury.
