Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injuries Centre

I have had the privilege of meeting a number of clients at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injuries Centre, http://bit.ly/lSHDRe based at Salisbury District Hospital. Whilst in my profession I fully accept that things can go wrong at any hospital, as a treatment centre, I have nothing but praise for the way that the centre seeks to rehabilitate patients back into their own homes with the maximum level of physical function that they can possibly achieve.

Why are some head injuries missed?

This can happen for a number of reasons. An individual may have been knocked out but no one was there to witness it as it will always take time for the emergency services to arrive on any accident scene. The individual may have sustained other serious possibly life threatening injuries such as a broken pelvis, multiple fractures to a leg or internal injuries then these will be dealt with first and any symptoms or signs of a head injury can be overlooked.
