Blake Lapthorn Appointed as Foreign & Commonwealth Office 'Know Before You Go' Campaign Partner

We are pleased to announce that Blake Lapthorn has been appointed as one of the partners for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's (FCO) 'Know Before You Go' (KBYG) Campaign.

The campaign has been created to reduce the number of preventable problems faced by British travellers abroad.  It aims to raise awareness of potential hazards and change travel behaviour.  Many of the most common problems encountered by travellers abroad can be prevented or made less stressful by taking a few simple precautions.  So by providing the right information to travellers before they set off, Blake Lapthorn is able to assist its clients and ensure they know what to do if they run into difficulties abroad.

As a KBYG campaign partner Blake Lapthorn, which is the first law firm to be appointed, will work in partnership with the FCO together with key travel industry partners to assist British nationals and ensure they stay safe overseas.

Whatever the reason for going abroad, travellers will want a trouble free trip.  The FCO offers travel advice, top tips and up-to-date country information to help travellers plan their holiday.  Key tips for travellers from the FCO include:

-- Make sure you have valid travel insurance, even if you’re only planning a short trip

-- Visit your GP at least six weeks before you travel to get any vaccinations you might need

-- Read up on your destination, including local laws and customs

-- Make photocopies of your passport, visas and insurance details and leave a copy with a relative or friend at home

-- Register with the FCO’s LOCATE service to tell it where you’re travelling to so the embassy and crisis staff can provide better assistance in an emergency such as a tsunami or terrorist attack.

Christopher Deacon, a solicitor in Blake Lapthorn's Travel and Insurance Litigation team, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed as a partner for this important FCO campaign.  Helping our clients to ensure that they are fully prepared, remain safe and have a trouble-free trip is a key priority for us.  Being a part of this campaign will further help us achieve this objective and ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the highest level of service so they continue to view us as their firm of choice."
