There are many websites out there purporting to carry legitimate listings and advertisements directly from a villa owner. The stated advantage of renting in this way is that it cuts out the middleman and is therefore supposed to be cheaper. Having today had a further enquiry from a holidaymaker caught up in a bogus holiday rental scam, I want to take this opportunity to make all consumers aware of the pitfalls of renting holiday villas and properties via letting agents or holiday rental websites.
