Claims Abroad team Represents a Holidaymaker who contracted Legionnaires in Spain
Fri 25th May 2012 Claims abroad
Blake Lapthorn has recently been appointed to act on behalf of a holidaymaker who contracted legionnaires as a result of staying at the Diamante Hotel in Calpe, Spain in January 2012.
In the same month, the illness led to the death of three Britons and
left thirteen in hospital. It is alleged that the relevant health
authority was aware of the illness in mid December 2011 after a
holidaymaker contracted the virus. Further evidence suggests
that a waitress at the hotel fell ill with the virus over the Christmas
period yet the hotel continued to cater for holidaymakers.
Tests reveal that the bacteria were traced to the hotel's plumbing system.
Legionnaire is
potentially fatal. It is caused by inhaling water droplets which carry
bacteria. The initial symptoms, which tend to consist of having a high
fever, chills, cough, muscle aches or headaches, usually
appear between 3 to 6 days after the initial infection. Some patients
make a full recovery, whereas others do not.
