Thank you for an efficient and friendly service.

Mr Mooney

Laser eye surgery and loss of sight

We provide an experienced, responsive and practical approach to claiming compensation for clinical negligence related to ophthalmic surgery. This area of medicine is very specialised and technical, and requires the expert interpretation of medical and legal issues that Blake Lapthorn solicitors can provide.

Examples of ophthalmic cases within our experience include:

  • optic nerve damage because of raised intra-cranial pressure
  • blindness because of failure correctly to treat diabetes
  • inappropriate cataract surgery techniques
  • inappropriate squint surgery
  • defective laser eye treatment surgery, and/or inappropriate clinical advice and patient selection for the surgery.

If blindness has occurred, we aim to work closely with you and your carers. We are able to draw upon a variety of expert sources as well as our in-house expertise to deal with these cases, and support you through the process of investigating your potential compensation claim, and making the subsequent claim for personal injury.

We claim compensation for the pain, suffering, and loss of amenity associated with your eye damage or loss of vision, as well as financial losses including your care requirements, specialist aids and equipment, further treatment, appropriate accommodation, and loss of earnings.
