In conclusion I should like to thank you and your team, for your professional  and diligent attempts to secure an outcome on my behalf, carried out in a friendly and approachable fashion. An excellent mix, if I may say so.

Missed broken bones, delay, and other issues with orthopaedic surgery

The Clinical Negligence team at Blake Lapthorn solicitors has successfully pursued many cases where the client has broken a bone which has been missed by the hospital, and compensation for personal injury has been achieved. In some cases the operation itself will be carried out negligently, resulting in further problems.

We have access to independent expertise in this area. Medical experts can examine your medical records in detail to determine whether the break should have been detected, whether the delay has stopped the bone healing properly, and if appropriate, prepare reports in support of your compensation claim for negligence

We have pursued a number of successful cases in relation to delay in diagnosis of fractured scaphoid and other bones. We have also pursued cases where there has been a delay in carrying out the surgery once the diagnosis has been made.

Sometimes, even if the fracture is identified at an early stage, and operated on swiftly, the operation itself may be carried out negligently. Sometimes the wrong sized screw or plate will be used, or the fracture has not been successfully reduced. This can cause further complications, and the client will usually require further surgery.

All these types of cases can have a serious impact on the healing process, eventual outcome, and often mean a longer recovery period, or even an incomplete recovery.

We are sufficiently experienced to appreciate the wide ranging effect of this type of personal injury on your life, and to ensure that all those factors are taken into account when quantifying your claim and, when appropriate, negotiating settlement on your behalf.

If we are able to secure an admission of liability from the defendant surgeon or hospital body, we will try to obtain an interim payment of damages on your behalf to help with immediate financial burdens whilst our investigations are completed and your claim is concluded.
