The service that I received from Patricia Wakeford was 100%. So friendly and approachable. I felt very comfortable discussing issues with her.

Surgical items left in patients following surgery

There some incidents where the surgical care of a patient is so poor that it can have severe adverse implications for the patient. These incidents can lead to personal injury and justify a compensation claim. The Clinical Negligence team at Blake Lapthorn solicitors will be happy to discuss with you whether you have a compensation claim for medical negligence.

One of the most striking examples of surgical care that can cause the patient to suffer injury is when the surgeon fails to remove all swabs and equipment from the patient following an operation. This can often then result in the patient suffering pain from an unknown cause. This is very distressing for the patient because they do not know what is causing the pain and are often told that it is just post operative pain.

There are the risks that the patient may have contracted infection and/or that they have experienced pain over a number of years, the cause of which has not been identified. Once the cause of the pain is discovered, the patient will almost certainly have to undergo a further operation to remove the object.

At Blake Lapthorn solicitors we consider every case in detail and, where appropriate, proceed with a claim for compensation for the injury and its financial impact on your life.
