Mrs W had a history of back pain. She attended her local trust for regular treatment and review and had five surgeries in total on her back.

A spinal fusion was recommended for the third surgery and she hoped that this would resolve her constant pain.  However, after the fusion she developed signs of infection and required further surgery to remove metalwork in case this was the site of the infection.

When this did not resolve Mrs W's problems she was referred to another local trust for further investigations, one of which was a CT scan.

Mrs W was informed that the scan showed no evidence of the fusion surgery that she believed she had two years before.  She made a complaint to the trust, who admitted some failures in care but did not offer compensation for the pain that she had endured.  Mrs W was recommended to BLClaims Solicitors as Clinical Negligence specialists.

Mrs W acknowledged that her condition was potentially exacerbated by matters that were in her control. She agreed, on this basis, to accept £12,000 in full and final settlement of her claim.
