Mrs A was referred to her local Primary Care Trust by her GP when she was diagnosed with bunions. She was seen by a podiatrist who strongly recommended surgery. Mrs A believed that without the surgery the condition of her foot would deteriorate. She was not x-rayed until three months following the surgery when she complained of pain. She was told that the x-ray was normal.

Due to increasing pain, cosmetic deformity and disability she was referred to a local trust. The clinicians were shocked at the condition of her foot and concerned about the surgery that Mrs A had undergone. She was referred to the orthopaedic team where surgery was recommended. By this point she was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

Mrs A required multiple surgeries over the next four years including a fusion.  She was recommended to BLClaims as specialist clinical negligence solicitors. She was constantly in pain and had to move from her home of many years as she could no longer safely manage the stairs.

Mrs A agreed to accept £30,000 in full and final settlement of her claim.
