Our Clinical Negligence Team has successfully recovered £55,000.00 following a claim for compensation for clinical negligence as a result of personal injury due to dental negligence.

Ms M had dental implants fitted in February 2007.  In July 2007 she attended her GP after experiencing ongoing problems, and was diagnosed with acute sinusitis.  She continued to have symptoms of sinusitis throughout 2007 and 2008.   In June 2008 she attended an acupuncturist to try and alleviate the pain.

In 2009 she was referred to the ENT clinic as she was experiencing pain and swelling in her face. A CT scan was carried out.  Ms M continued to attend her GP practice where she was given numerous antibiotics for her sinusitis.

In March 2010 she was seen again in the ENT clinic.  A further CT scan showed that she had a dental implant in the sinus behind her cheekbone.    In September 2010 Ms M underwent surgery to remove the dental implant. She developed an infection post-surgery and had a foul smell in her nose.

In March 2011 Ms M returned to the ENT clinic as she had persistent facial swelling and lip numbness on one side of her face together with loss of smell.

As a result of the delay in removing the implant from the sinus, Ms M has suffered a substantial period of pain and suffering.  This delay caused significantly more inflammation and scarring. She has also now been left with a diminished sense of smell and taste as well as numbness. This will not improve in the future.

Ms M will also require further implant surgery because her implants are now failing.

Ms M instructed BL Claims Solicitors as Specialist Clinical Negligence Solicitors.  Ms M agreed to accept £55,000.00 in full and final settlement of her claim.
