Master P was under the care of an orthodontist at QE2 Hospital. He was due to undergo the removal of his infant LL4 tooth so that orthodontic treatment could begin.

The LL4 tooth was removed, however this was his adult tooth and not his infant one and so Master P was left with a permanent gap. This is an important space both for aesthetics and for function. Master P sought a second opinion from another dentist regarding treatment options and the new dentist could see no sensible reason for suggesting removal of the LL4 tooth in the first place.

The gap was closed initially by way of adhesive bridge which Master P would continue to use until he turned 18. Upon turning 18 he would undergo insertion of a dental implant with a crown which would need replacing on a regular basis for the rest of his life.

Liability was admitted immediately by the Defendant without us even needing to send a Letter of Claim. The claim settled for £45,000 which included an allowance for the pain and suffering and also the ongoing future treatment that Master P will require for the rest of his life. By the time the claim settled, Master P had turned 18, so there was no need for Court approval.
