I am aware that the HSE have issued a statement regarding changes to RIDDOR reporting and the closure of the HSE infoline service. The two main changes are as follows;

As of the 12th September 2011 RIDDOR reporting will be moved to a primarily online reporting system with revised forms aimed at making the reporting process faster and simpler for uses. As of the 30th September 2011 the HSE infoline will end and businesses are advised to use the HSE website in its place.

As a result of the changes the HSE website has been updated to include new resources for interactive risk assessments tools for low risk business, Health and Safety Made Simple, step by step guidance on what small and low risk businesses need to do to achieve a basic level of health and safety compliance and expanded FAQ to answer common topics such as RIDDOR and First Aid.

The Infoline service is ending due to the upgrading of the website allowing more information easier accessible.

The Incident Contact Centre will still take reports on all fatal and major incidents by telephone but all other incidents will be reported via the website and the completion of an online form.  You will no longer be able to report by email, post or fax.

These changes have been made in an effort to make significant efficiencies. If you don't have access to a computer they have reminded people that internet access is available in thousands of libraries and other public buildings and there are also Government plans under consideration to offer a network of assisted digital providers such as post offices, libraries and online centres providing access to the web.
