As anyone who knows me is aware I have a love of heels, in fact most are shocked at how small I am when in flats! So, I was therefore distraught to read that high heels can bring an increased risk of arthritis later in life!

The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, who carried out a survey of 2000 people, have advised that high shoes can alter posture and increase pressure on the foot, ankle and knee joints, raising the threat of osteoarthritis. This caused pain and stiffness in the joints.  The survey revealed that a quarter of women wore high heels every day or frequently.  As a result the Society say that the UK could be hit by an "arthritis crisis" caused by high heels.

Professor Anthony Redmond, a podiatrist and researcher at the society recommend women wear round toed shoes with a maximum heel of 2 - 3cm and shock absorbent soles.  Whilst I appreciate his advice I am afraid that these just aren't the shoes for me and I am going to continue on my journey with a love shoes - all aboard the Jimmy train Choo Choo!!!!
