The article, a link to which is shown below, reports upon a study undertaken between 1997 and 2007 that found that the risk of dementia was 15.3% among veterans who had experienced a traumatic brain injury, compared with 6.8 percent among veterans who had not. This increased risk was significant regardless of the type of traumatic brain injury the veteran had suffered.
I have to agree with one of the commentators that this study, if accepted here in the UK, must raise concern about the potential long-term consequences of TBI in our own injured veterans.
