read today of the campaign launched by the Ministry of Defence to promote amongst its war veterans a better awareness of the mental scars which almost always follows experiences of combat situations. The campaign has been called "Don't bottle it up", and, as the BBC says on its website,  the idea is that soldiers should not be afraid to come forward and describe their psychological symptoms, which after all, unlike physical scars, are not obvious." />

Who are BL Claims Solicitors

BL Claims Solicitors specialise in personal injury, clinical negligence and travel claims, providing our clients with hands-on support, nationally.

We are rated as one of the top firms in the UK and believe in speaking to our clients in jargon-free language and ensuring you're speaking to a highly qualified lawyer right from the outset

Talking about this initiative, Sgt Dave Harrison, a trainer in trauma risk management, said: "There's still an expectancy for our soldiers - guys and girls - to crack on with the job, knowing the difficult task that they have. "But what we've got with them with that is that if anything goes wrong, we're going to support you, not just physically, but mentally. We have mental systems in place now - psychological systems and pillars of support - that will help you if you're suffering from a traumatic event."

This is all about reducing the risk of a battle scarred veteran spiralling into serious mental illness.  It is a known fact that of those who fought in the Falklands Conflict in 1982, more have since taken their own lives than actually died of their wounds in the South Atlantic.

I do hope that this is fed through the system and all those who have had first hand experience of battle recognise that help is available.
