The results compiled by the World Travel Organisation, revealed that top of the most romantic spots was the iconic Taj Mahal followed by the natural beauty of the Lewa Downs in Kenya.

As a bit of a feminist, kneeling down in front of a man is something incomprehensible to me. But for some women, tomorrow is the opportunity to make their man an honest one (well so goes the theory). The more beautiful and spectacular the location the more chances he says "yes".

However beware of the dangers lurking around, wherever you decide to pop the question. The Taj Mahal? You will not have a claim if you slip on a marble floor, common to India. You may not be used to them if you come from England, but in India, they are the norm. And to win a case for an accident abroad you need to show a breach of local regulations and customs. La Tour Eiffel in Paris? You will not have a claim if you trip on a shutter stop, because every window has shutters in France and the stop is expected to be there.

The more exotic the holiday the less likely the laws and customs of the country you visit will be similar to those of England. Some countries simply do not even have a law of tort at all. Take Mexico for example. So when in Rome, do not just do as the  Romans do, expect what the Romans expect and are used to.

As for me, the only kneeling I will be doing tomorrow will be behind the cooker. It is spring time and I am trying to make this job customary...
