Changes to the RIDDOR reporting rules

Who are BL Claims Solicitors

BL Claims Solicitors specialise in personal injury, clinical negligence and travel claims, providing our clients with hands-on support, nationally.

We are rated as one of the top firms in the UK and believe in speaking to our clients in jargon-free language and ensuring you're speaking to a highly qualified lawyer right from the outset

Under the previous rules, accidents which resulted in an employee being away from work for 3 days or more (not counting the day of the accident) had to be reported.

Whilst the company still has to keep records of accidents resulting in an absence of 3 days or more, under the new RIDDOR regulations only absences of 7 days or more need to be reported to the HSE.

The company now has 15 days to make the report.

This will help reduce the administration burden on companies, hopefully without compromising on health and safety at work.
