David Cameron, who met with the family of a 14 year old school girl who was killed by a drug driver in London last year, has personally backed the move.

Mr Cameron said the fact we do not have the technology or laws to prosecute drug drivers is not right and we should be doing for drug driving what the drink driving laws have done for drunk driving. This new law will be included in the Crime, Communications and Court Bill, and will cover the abuse of prescription drugs as well as illegal narcotics.

I say it's about time!
