-- Ensure your cash is safely locked away in a hotel safe. Only carry the cash you need each time you leave the hotel.
-- If the FCO advises UK nationals to leave Greece then the tour operator will be responsible for your repatriation if you have booked a regulated package holiday. If you are not travelling as part of a package holiday then the FCO will coordinate repatriation through local Embassy officials. Always check the latest travel advice from the FCO before you go.
-- Check your travel insurance cover before you go. If your travel plans are disrupted due to planned strike action announced before you took out the policy then you are very unlikely to be covered. Depending on the policy, you may not be covered for disruption caused by wildcat action, which is likely to be the more common cause of disruption given the current situation in Greece.
-- Make sure you provide someone back in the UK with details of your travel plans and the name, address and contact number for where you are staying.
Despite the negative attention Greece has received in the media over the past year, it remains a stunning country to holiday in and the likelihood is your summer holiday will be the well deserved break you anticipate.
