Toys and Magazines in Waiting Rooms – a Health Hazard?

This is another example of just that. I have heard reports of doctors and dentists feeling they should remove toys and magazines from waiting rooms because of some perceived health risk.

The HSE have published guidelines which set out a sensible approach to the issue. The advice is clear. Toys and magazines have a positive effect on patients and all that needs to be applied is a little common sense.

Regular checks on toys to make sure they are not unsafe or damaged;

Care in the choice of the toys;

Regular cleaning of the toys;

Disposing of obviously soiled magazines.
