The Coroner, Keith Wiseman,  provided a list of recommendations for the fire service and housing authority to stop the deaths of these two heroes being in vain, and hopefully prevent the same thing ever happening again.

The recommendations included fire-fighters  being issued with insulated wire cutters and protective straps for breathing apparatus, along with additional training. The Housing Authority were advised there should be changes to building regulations, such as fitting sprinklers in all buildings more than 30 meters tall, in line with current legislation for new builds,  and plastic cable supports should not be used.

Perhaps if the fire-fighters had been issued with the correct equipment , and the flats had complied with the proposed amended building regulations, then these two men could still be alive and their families would not now be suffering.
