Not only is having a cold very unpleasant but according to research drivers are far more dangerous with a cold because of the sneezing, searching for tissues and nose blowing. Whilst driving at 60mph on the motorway, when you sneeze, you will travel 50ft with your eyes closed, which is very dangerous.

A study by Halfords Autocentres showed that 9% of 2.6 million drivers on Britain's roads admitted to taking their eyes off the road due to a cold or flu. A Police Officer at the Central Motorway Police Group said that drivers should stay at home and not put other road users at risk. Driving with these symptoms could be held as an aggravating factor in any accident that led to a death or serious injury.
