It seems that the examination board was forced to contact students the day after they had been offered their first jobs as junior doctors because of problems with the computerised scoring system used to mark their exams.

The article suggest that hospitals may face problems if students they had been expecting are sent elsewhere and students may face further delays because of CRB and employer checks which can take up to eight weeks.

Not only is this a stressful and difficult situation for medical students, but it also potentially has implications for hospitals and their staffing levels and, ultimately, patient care.

Hopefully, the exam board will resolve the problem swiftly and these concerns will be put to rest.
