I recently spoke to a client who had screening for cancer. She had not been contacted with the result of her screening within the 3 week timescale. She didn't chase it as she thought "no news is good news".
A few months later she was informed by hospital staff that her test was positive for cancer and she needed urgent treatment. Fortunately her treatment was successful.
She didn't have a claim for negligent clinical treatment as a delay in diagnosis doesn't automatically mean there is a claim. I wanted to mention it because I've discovered that sometimes you can't rely on others telling you important information. If you've had screening for cancer and haven't heard the result within a few weeks I suggest that you contact your doctor and find out the result.
