Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt recently attracted headlines when he announced a scheme aimed at more swiftly settling claims involving brain damage in babies.

The Health Secretary suggested that the Rapid Resolution and Redress (RRR) scheme would help to provide speedier resolutions and get away from a ‘blame culture’ encouraged by the threat of litigation in such cases.

However, Elizabeth O’Mahony, a specialist at BL Claims Solicitors, argues that there are many misconceptions around these proposals – and that they could, at worst, chip away at access to justice.

She looks behind the headlines in a piece published in the Law Society Gazette. Read it here.
