Members from the south coast clinical negligence, travel and personal injuries teams attended the Hampshire Law Society Annual General Meeting and Christmas dinner on Tuesday 28 November 2017 at the Wessex Hotel in Winchester - a well attended evening.
The main role of the Law Society is to support the profession locally. The society offers training, social events and represents members' interests.
I was interested to hear about some of the events that have taken place over the last year and some of those intended going forward. Training is provided throughout the year on many topics which cover the majority of practice areas of those attending.
The evening launched with an opportunity to talk to colleagues in other firms within the local area over coffee. It was interesting to discuss the changes in the personal injury landscape over the last few years.
The formalities commenced promptly and the AGM concluded with the new President (Miss Kristina Colmer) and committee being sponsored and seconded. It was good to see a young team brimming with ideas for the year ahead.
Quantuma, who sponsored the event, gave a light hearted talk about insolvency issues before the three course dinner. Professor David Gurnham, Deputy Head of School at Southampton University, spoke about a life of crime.
A very interesting evening which provided a real insight in to the workings of the Hampshire Law Society.
