The affect of this on tourism, carbon emissions and Scottish Farmers is widely debated, but what about road accidents?  Parents have concerns that darker mornings would make the school run more dangerous and increase the number of accidents involving children walking to school; but is this true?

Currently the main statistics are quoted from the British Standard Time Experiment that occurred between October 1968 and 1971.  At the conclusion of this experiment, it was widely publicised that there was a slight increase in deaths during the morning.  However the experiment actually proved that there was a reduction of 3% in the number of deaths on the road overall and an 8.6% reduction in Scotland .

The Daylight Saving Bill 2010 is still being considered by Parliament.  David Cameron has agreed to seriously consider the Bill provided he has the backing of public opinion.  Will we provide further updates as and when the information becomes available.
