Specialists from BL Claims Solicitors have been highly praised in Chambers and Partners – the authoritative guide to the legal profession in the UK.

The firm, which is a leader in clinical negligence, personal injury and travel claims, has been listed in the directory in key practice areas, and several of its lawyers are ranked with glowing references from clients.

The 2017 edition of Chambers UK puts the Southampton-based firm in the highest tier – Band 1 – for its Clinical Negligence practice, with clients praising the firm as “an exceptionally good outfit where the service remains consistently good”.

Alison McClure, non-executive director at BL Claims, is singled out as an “eminent practitioner” with a “formidable reputation” and particular expertise in child brain injury claims.

Kym Provan, who heads the firm’s Clinical Negligence Team in Southampton, is praised for expertise in spinal injury, acquired brain injury and delayed diagnosis of cancer and noted as “very down-to-earth and straight-talking with good judgment”.

Ruth Powell, who handles a broad range of claims including those involving cerebral palsy and catastrophic brain and spinal injuries, is ranked in Band 3, described by clients as “highly competent” and “a delight to work with”.

Former midwife Patricia Wakeford, who specialises in obstetric and cerebral palsy claims, was named an “associate to watch” and praised for her “good judgment and preparation”.

Also listed as an associate to watch is Gemma Osgood, a specialist in a wide range of areas including cerebral palsy claims and dental claims, described as “hard-working and bright”.

BL Claims Solicitors achieved a Band 2 ranking for its Personal Injury team, with Chambers giving personal injury specialist David Healy, head of BL Claims, a Band 3 ranking, highlighting that he is “extremely popular with clients” with “notable experience”.

The firm was ranked in Band 2 for its travel team’s personal injury claimant work and in the third band for its defendant work in this area, with the directory noting a “stellar team with significant experience… highlighted for its ability to handle international claims”.

Daniel Scognamiglio, head of the Travel Team, is ranked in Band 2 with clients commending his “first-rate client skills” and describing him as “very considered and thorough”.

Travel team members Eleanor Armstrong and Lauren Haas were listed by the directory in the category of “associates to watch”.

Chambers UK: A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession is compiled from research including interviews with clients and other law firms and is widely respected as a leading legal guide in the UK.
